Start-up First Care Products, of the Persys Investment group, has developed an advanced emergency bandage designed to stop traumatic hemorrhagic wounds. Several army units and companies around the world have made test purchases of the product, totaling NIS 1 million.
Purchasers include the US, French, Belgian and Norwegian Armies, as well as UN units. The bandages have also been supplied to elite IDF units and civilian companies in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Cyprus, South Africa and Ukraine. Company executives forecast increased sales from the beginning of 2001.
First Care Products was founded in 1995 by Bernard Grau, a former IDF medic. Persys Investment and associated companies own 48% of the company shares, after investing $400,000. Other shares are held by Jerusalem Software Incubator, NOVUS and Grav.
The new bandage is intended to replace the type of existing bandage that has been in use by the IDF and other armies for the past 50 years.
First Care Products has patented the bandage in Israel, the US, South Africa, Japan, Brazil and Approved PCT for Europe and other countries. The bandage has passed the world’s most stringent standards, including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the US Army and Europe’s CE Marketing Process
