“Yediot Ahronot”: Atarot industrial zone collapsing – 50 out of 200 plants paralyzed

Terrorists have killed one man and fired on employees and vehicles traveling to Atarot.

The “Yediot Ahronot” daily reported that the Atarot industrial zone in northern Jerusalem is paralyzed. About 50 out of the 200 plants in Atarot have in effect ceased operations in recent days. The other plants are also in serious difficulties. It is assessed that some of the plants will not be reopened.

Dozens of companies have recently decided to closed their plants or transfer them to the Beit Shemesh area or western Jerusalem, following the terrorist attack in which the late Akiva Pashkos was murdered and a series of incidents in which employees and cars transporting goods to the industrial zone were fired on. A few weeks ago a new bypass road was opened to the industrial zone from the west, but vehicles on this road have also been fired on. According to the plant owners in the zone, the Israel Defense Forces and the police are not doing enough to prevent attacks on vehicles traveling to Atarot.
