Openwave's mobile access gateway will allow users access to the wireless Internet from their mobile phones
Cellcom, the largest mobile operator in Israel, has chosen to implement the Openwave (OPWV) Mobile Access Gateway, to enable it to offer greater services to its subscribers. The gateway provides Cellcom's 2 million subscribers with access to the wireless Internet from their mobile phones. Openwave has licensed the Mobile Access Gateway to over 80 carriers in 26 countries worldwide.
``Israel is known as having one of the most advanced wireless infrastructures and knowledge bases of communications technologies in the world, which allowed Cellcom to evaluate the best available wireless Internet offering,'' says Tzvi Shechori, vice president Engineering and Network Operations at Cellcom. ``Openwave's Mobile Access Gateway will be a powerful platform for us to enhance our subscriber offerings.''
Mike Mulica, senior vice president of worldwide operations for Openwave says `` We are pleased to be enabling Cellcom to offer enhanced mobile Internet services that contributes to setting a new standard in Israeli telephony.''
