Car bomb explodes in central Jerusalem

No casualties are reported in the incident. The explosion occurred in a car park in the Russian compound.

"Voice of Israel Radio" reports that a car bomb exploded shortly after midnight in the Russian compound in central Jerusalem, near the city's police headquarters. There are many bars and night clubs in the area, which were crowded with people, but the explosion took place in a car park and no casualties are reported.

The police are evacuating the area because of the fear that more bombs may have been planted in the area. Police estimate that the bomb which exploded was a powerful one.
