The Alaska export agreement was signed following the increase in the company’s shoe and sandal sales to Canada.
Teva Naot from Kibbutz Naot Mordechai is now beginning to export sandals and clogs for Eskimos in 70 shoe stores all over Alaska.
Teva Naot general manager Michael Illouz says the company’s sandals are designated solely for summer (July-August) marking, when even Eskimos change their winter shoes for summer footwear – sandals and clogs.
Illouz said exports to Alaska will reach NIS 600,000 in the coming months. The company expects to double its exports in 2002 and also gain a foothold in tourist gift shops around Alaska.
He added that the Alaska export agreement was signed following the increase in the company’s shoe and sandal sales to Canada. Teva Naot’s exports to Canada are expected to amount to NIS 24 million this year, up 25% from 2000.
