RAD Data Communications to lay off 100 employees

The employees who will be laid off constitute 10% of the company's workforce.

RAD Data Communications, of the Rad-Bynet group, will announce on Thursday that it is laying off 100 employees, almost 10% of its workforce. The company, which employs 1,100 workers, develops, manufactures, and sells communications systems.

Sources said that RAD Data Communications has not yet finalized the identities of those being laid off, or the departments that will be affected, adding that there are no plans to carry out cutbacks on existing product lines.

RAD Data Communications was founded in 1981 as a private company by brothers Yehuda and Zohar Zisapel. The company's sales turnover in 2000 was estimated at $200 million, constituting a third of the Rad-Bynet group's total sales turnover last year.

RAD Data Communications is affiliated with 15 other companies. These include RADVision (Nasdaq: RVSN) RadView (Nasdaq: RDVW) Radware (Nasdaq: RDWR) RADCOM (Nasdaq: RDCM),and Ceragon Networks (Nasdaq: CRNT), as well as private companies Axerra Networks and Modules.
