Ben Gurion University of the Negev and Intel hope that the successful link between the two parties will bring other industries into the project.
Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) has donated an advanced industrial engineering laboratory to Ben Gurion University of the Negev (BGU). The lab will serve 450 industrial engineering and management students.
The lab allows for the simulation of the basic challenges facing industrial engineers and managers of high tech plants. Prof. Ben Gurion University of the Negev president Prof. Avishai Braverman said that students could also get help from databases made available to them by Intel, for long-distance learning about manufacturing processes, product flow and decision-making.
BGU and Intel hope that the successful link between the two parties will bring other enterprises into the project. Those enterprises joining the project will be asked to donate a lab, which in turn will assist them in various ways, including use of proprietary software and confidentiality regarding data. If other enterprises enter into the project, it will gain stature as a know-how and resource center that will contribute to the development of industries in Israel's southern region.
