The city covers over 46,000 dunam and has one of the highest building start rate in Israel.
Modiin was declared a city in a special ceremony that took place last week in the presence of the President of the State of Israel Moshe Katsav. Modiin, founded in 1993, now has more than 30,000 residents. Under its master-plan, Modiin is expected to grow to over 250,00 residents.
Modiin covers over 46,000 dunam (11,500 acres) and has one of the highest building starts rate in Israel. As a result, it has a very large supply of apartments, making it one of the places with the highest inventory of unsold apartments. Modiin’s recognition as a city follows a lengthy fight for the status by former mayor Moshe Shechter.
