Amisragas: LPG car fueling possible without delay

The cost of converting a private car for natural gas fueling is NIS 6,000, and the conversion is economically feasible for people driving over 15,000 a year.

“The decision to allow fueling cars with liquid petroleum gas (LPG) can be implemented without delay,” Amisragas said in response to Minister of National Infrastructures and Energy Avigdor Lieberman’s decision to permit fueling cars with LPG. Amisragas says that the technology and the know-how for converting private cars, trucks and buses are already available in Israel.

Amisragas assesses cost of converting a private car for LPG fueling is NIS 6,000, and the conversion is economically feasible for people driving over 15,000 a year. The main gain, however, is cleaner air and higher-quality environment. Hence the importance of encouraging the owners of vehicles, such as cabs, buses and delivery trucks, which travel inside cities, to convert them to gas fueling.

A year ago, Amisragas converted a private car for LPG (cooking gas) fueling, in a move aimed at illustrating the technology of LPG fueling and promoting government permission to use LPG as the third type of vehicle fuel in Israel. The car was converted with the assistance of a Dutch company that supplied the gas fueling systems.

Amisragas says that car conversion for LPG fueling should be started without delay, as should the construction of the necessary infrastructure. At the first stage, it is possible rapidly to set up LPG fueling points in operators’ facilities, thereby providing a simple solution for the fueling problem, pending the installation of fueling points in gas stations.
