Network security company Skybox raises $5m

Benchmark Capital and Carmel Ventures led the round.

Skybox Security, a newly formed Israeli start-up, today announced that it had secured seed funding of $5 million, in a round led by Benchmark Capital and Carmel Ventures, with the participation of Mofet.

Skybox Security focuses on developing systems that assess vulnerabilities and threats affecting corporate networks.

Skybox CEO Gidi Cohen said, "We are extremely proud of the display of confidence our investors have expressed in Skybox. We believe that our solution is answering a very clear market need. The company is currently recruiting its initial R&D personnel with the target of reaching 10-15 employees by the end of 2002.”

Skybox Security was founded by security experts Gidi Cohen - former CEO & co-founder of Vigil Technologies, Moshe Meiseles - former Senior VP Development of Memco (acquired by Computer Associates), and Eran Reshef - co-founder of Sanctum.

Joining Eran Reshef and Gidi Cohen on Skybox’s board of directors will be Arad Naveh of Benchmark Capital, Rina Shainski of Carmel Ventures, and Elie Barr of Mofet.
