Ness Technologies to complete $10m SAP system at IAI

The system, called mySAP Aerospace & Defense, is designed to provide a comprehensive solution for the range of IAI's activities.

Ness Technologies has won a project to install a comprehensive management and operating software system at Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI). The project is worth an estimated $10 million.

The project, which covers all IAI branches and subsidiaries, is based on SAP software. Ness Technologies is the Israeli representative of SAP (NYSE; LSE:SAP; XETRA:SAPG).

The system, called mySAP Aerospace & Defense, is designed to provide a comprehensive solution for the range of IAI's activities, including conversion, upgrading, development and production of aircraft and the development and production of sophisticated weapons systems.

IAI president and CEO Moshe Keret said the project will allow IAI to greatly improve efficiency and competitiveness. "The project will help IAI reduce design and production costs and improve its competitiveness in global markets," he said.

Ness Technologies president and CEO Raviv Zoller stressed the project's importance, noting that it was the company's largest project since the general software system for government ministries.

Ness Technologies Enterprise Solutions Group president Yoram Michaelis, who handles marketing, sales and support for SAP in Israel, said that SAP considered the project to be strategic for the company.

"SAP invested heavily in bidding for the project, and its executives were involved in the process, monitoring developments closely," said Michaelis. "SAP applied lessons learned from scores of earlier projects for leading aerospace concerns."

Ness Technologies currently has a staff of 2,300, specializing in development, consultancy and software solutions integration. The company's annual sales are $180 million.
