10 Jewish families from France and Belgium have in recent weeks bought apartments in two Beit Shemesh housing projects. The buyers said they had decided to immigrate to Israel because of the wave of anti-Semitic incidents in France and Belgium, including attacks on two Antwerp synagogues.
At the same time, contractor Ygal Dimri said he had sold four apartments to Jewish families from France at a housing fair in Paris last week. A French-Jewish manufacturer married to an Israeli bought a five-room apartment for $170,000, and another family bought a 150-sq.m. penthouse in Ashdod’s Yod-Bet neighborhood for $200,000.
Other companies, including Arie and Ofer Building and Investments, which is constructing luxury apartments in Netanya, also reported great interest from Jewish families in the two countries. Netanya has a large number of immigrants from France.
As reported in "Globes", 12 investors from France and Britain recently bough apartments in Eilat from Noga Real Estate. 30 more Jewish families from France are currently negotiating to buy apartments in Eilat from Noga Real Estate.
