Israel News 2 overcame Israel Television News Company, which won the tender for operating a designated new channel, and currently produces the news for Channel 10.
Under the agreement, Israel News 2 will produce all new programs for Israel Plus. The programs will not be the same as the news broadcast on Channel 2; Israel News 2 will produce specially edited news broadcasts for the Israel Plus channel.
Israel Plus is owned by Africa-Israel Investments (40.5%), IGB (19.5%), Marlaz Communications (20%), El-Rom Studios (8.25%), TVR (5.75%), and its management (5%).
Channel executives said the new channel would go on the air in the coming weeks, but gave no exact date.
