StarBand launches high-speed internet service in Puerto Rico

StarBand is the first satellite-delivered Internet provider officially launching service on the island.

StarBand today announced it has launched high-speed satellite Internet service for consumer and small office customers in Puerto Rico. StarBand is the first satellite-delivered Internet provider officially launching service on the Island. The company's high-speed satellite-based network marks the end of Internet isolation for many in Puerto Rico.

"DSL and cable modem penetration isn't very good but satellite-delivered StarBand is exactly the kind of service that can be everywhere my customers are in Puerto Rico," said StarBand Direct Dealer Gabriel Baez of San Juan-based Hytech Satellite Communications. "As an experienced satellite TV installer, StarBand high-speed satellite Internet service gives me a competitive edge."

In addition to Hytech Satellite Communications, StarBand has signed up several other StarBand Direct Dealers and expects to have dealers located throughout Puerto Rico in the next several months.

"StarBand was the first to bring high-speed satellite Internet to all 50 U.S. states and now we're taking a leadership position once again, this time in Puerto Rico," said StarBand President and Chief Marketing Officer David Trachtenberg. "The wait for high-speed Internet service is over because StarBand is available to everyone in Puerto Rico virtually everywhere."

In conjunction with the service launch in Puerto Rico, StarBand will link to a web portal with Spanish language content. The company's call center will also provide assistance for Spanish-speaking customers.
