US chain Schnuck Markets buys Retalix StoreLine solutions

No value was disclosed. Schnuck Markets operates 103 stores in the Midwest and recently acquired 12 supermarkets.

Retalix Inc., the US subsidiary of Retalix (Nasdaq: RTLX) today announced that Schnuck Markets, a US-based grocery chain, had selected Retalix StoreLine point of sale solutions. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Schnuck Markets, which operates 103 stores in the Midwest, recently acquired 12 supermarkets, five with fuel centers, in the Memphis, Tennessee area. Working with the Retalix Project Management team, Schnuck's was able to re-open all 17 sites on the same day, only three days after taking possession of the stores, Retalix said.

Retalix’s StoreLine system is a grocery and fuel point-of-sale (POS) system, offering the ability to integrate and process data in real time across multiple sales channels and formats. Despite a lack of prior experience with the StoreLine system, Schnuck's is utilizing the system’s integrated fuel and cafe formats.

Schnuck Markets Information Technology director Jim Mueller said, "Retalix really came through for us. Given the volume and complexity of the effort along with short lead times and condensed conversion schedule, we relied heavily on the Retalix team to accomplish our goals. We were both impressed and pleased with the support and execution supplied by Retalix. Our conversion was definitely a success."

Retalix shares in Tel Aviv were up 1.9% at web-posting, trading 1.5% above the company’s US share, which closed on Tuesday at $11.18.
