Gusinsky's NTV faces competition

Russian-language Video International received a franchise to market NTV-MIR in Israel via satellite.

Video International has received a franchise to market NTV-MIR in Israel. The Russian-language station will be aired by YES satellite broadcaster. Video International specializes is marketing advertising time to Russian-language stations, and has been marketing the Russian state ORT International for the past two years.

NTV-MIR is the former NTV station owned by Vladimir Gusinsky, until it was transferred to the Russian gas company Gazprom, which owned a stake in the station. NTV-MIR broadcasts its international edition directly from Moscow. NTV-MIR should not be confused with Gusinsky's station, NTV International, which is not broadcast from Moscow, and is aired in Israel on cable and YES.

YES will initially air Video International on channel 187, and it will also be aired on cable in a few months.

NTV-MIR CEO Stephen Coppen recently visited Israel. The franchise is for marketing the station's international edition.
