Hamas, Islamic Jihad: Suicide attacks in Israel will continue

A Fatah commander in the West Bank: We will halt attacks only inside Israel.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad announced today that they will continue the suicide bombings against Israel. The announcement followed a week of intensive talks between Palestinian organizations in an attempt to formulate a joint statement on a halt to terrorist attacks inside Israel.

A Hamas spokesman said the movement would continue the attacks against Israel, including suicide bombings.

A senior Islamic Jihad official, Muhammad al-Hindi, said today that his organization would not halt its attacks inside Israel.

In contrast, a Fatah commander in the West Bank, Hussein a-Sheikh, announced that Fatah had decided to halt attacks in Israel.

Hamas's statement contradicts yesterday's announcement by MK Ahmad Tibi (Balad) that Hamas would sign the agreement to halt attacks inside Israel in a few days. Tibi said that the agreement would end all attacks within the Green Line.
