Cydoor raising $3m

Cydoor Technologies enables advertising content through desktop software.

Israel start-up Cydoor Technologies is raising $3 million, CEO Meir Zohar told “Globes”. Zohar said the company expects to finish 2002 with a $1 million profit on revenue of $6 million.

Cydoor has developed technology that makes it possible to use banner advertising in software, while significantly lowering the software price to the consumer, or even providing the software free of charge. The company actually mediates between the advertisers and the software supplier, who receives royalties from the sale of advertising.

In the past year the company has signed contracts with KaZaA and Morpheus, which operate two of the currently most popular Internet file-sharing programs. Cydoor’s customers also include eBay and Creative Labs.

Cydoor has raised over $7 million since being founded in 1998. Its most recent financing round was in May 2000, when it raised $6 million.
