Ben Gurion University of the Negev president Prof. Avishay Braverman: We’re missing the resources that weren’t correctly invested in infrastructures and education over the past seven years.
Ben Gurion University of the Negev president Prof. Avishay Braverman today attacked the policies of all Israeli governments, saying, “The simple and correct things aren’t happening. We are an island of Jews, surrounded by a large Muslim sea. People are always saying we have to invest in infrastructures and boost growth. But over the past seven years, we missed out on the resources that weren’t correctly invested in infrastructures and education.”
Braverman called for work incentives and development of the Negev and the Galilee regions, to counter the rising population density in the central region. “All we have to do to develop the Negev is to establish a large metropolitan center in Beer Sheva, which is already blessed with high-quality people and a large university. There’s no problem of infrastructures; all that needs to be done is think and plan for the long term.
”The next government should understand its duty to history, and act accordingly; otherwise, we’ll collapse, and our young people will flee.”
