Labor Party to decide on budget vote tonight

MK Efi Oshaya told ''Globes'' that Labor leader Amram Mitzna would probably recommend that the party abstain.

The Labor Party is convening tonight in Tel Aviv to decide how to vote on the 2003 state budget and Economic Arrangements Law by the Knesset plenum on Tuesday.

Minister of Finance Silvan Shalom contacted Labor Party chairman Amram Mitzna last week to ask for his support for the budget.

Labor party Knesset faction chairman MK Efi Oshaya told ''Globes'' that Mitzna will probably recommend the party abstain.

Oshaya said an abstention would express the party’s opposition to the budget, “which it views as bad”, while preserving the option to change the budget priorities, “if and when the party wins the elections.”
