BSA raids ORS office to look for pirate software

Microsoft filed a suit against ORS Human Resources with the Tel Aviv District Court last week.

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) raided ORS Human Resources offices Friday. ORS is suspected of copyright violations of Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) software.

Microsoft filed a NIS 250,000 suit against ORS with the Tel Aviv District Court last week.

BSA, which fights software piracy worldwide, announced today that after Microsoft filed the suit, the Tel Aviv District Court issued a search warrant for the ORS offices in Tel Aviv. The company’s computers were examined to see whether they carried pirated Microsoft software.

BSA also stated it was deeply concerned by the widespread copyright violation in Israel, but was pleased by the cooperation of the Israeli authorities and the measures taken to combat copyright infringement.

BSA Israel chairman Adv. Eran Soroker said in previous suits filed by BSA against Israeli companies and businesses, “Companies were fined tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, and were ordered to buy the original software for all their computers that had illegally installed software.”
