Industrialist Stef Wertheimer has opened negotiations to rent industrial buildings in Nazareth from their owners, as part of his plan to set up his fifth industrial park in the city.
Wertheimer and Nazareth Mayor Ramez Jaraisy, assisted by government ministries, want to attract companies to the new industrial park. The park will operate under the same model as the Tefen, Omer, Tel Hai and Dalton industrial parks. Nazareth was named an industrial national priority A area in 2002.
“We have already toured Nazareth several times, and have located two sites for the industrial park. However, we want to begin operations before the park is established,” said Wertheimer. “We must not waste time. We must begin setting up export-oriented industries. We can’t wait for construction to be completed. We want to rent 2,000 sq.m. of space now, to enable Jewish and Arab entrepreneurs to join the circle of industry.”
Werthiemer is subsidizing a joint Jewish-Arab business entrepreneurship course. He met 50 Arab candidates for the course last Thursday. The course’s third class of 30 students, half of them Arabs, will begin in April.
