The Unitours travel agency announced yesterday that it had arranged with international tourism concerns special travel packages to Rhodes, Crete, Greece, and Cyprus for Israelis seeking to leave Israel during the anticipated war in Iraq.
The company expects the greatest demand will be for Greece, and has prepared a seven-night, $550 package to this destination.
Unitours predicts that most Israeli travelers will order 1-2 week packages. The company arranges its flights through Israir, which plans to continue its flights, even if war breaks out.
Tzabar Travel and Tours marketing manager Gabi Slov said that all the hotels in Eilat and at the Dead Sea had retracted their discounts of recent months, and were charging official prices, in anticipation of war in Iraq.
The now canceled discounts amounted to double digit percentages. Slov said Tzabar’s reservation center had registered a 20% increase in reservations for Eilat and Dead Sea hotels at the end of this week.
Slov added that those who had made advance hotel reservations in recent months had begun to exercise their options.
Demand for reservations for regular flights to Europe and the US has increased.
