Channel 10 owes production cos NIS 35m

Israel 10 fired 20% of its staff yesterday.

Israel 10 owes 13-14 television producers up to NIS 35 million. The largest debts are NIS 10 million to Meimad-Tzena-MTVS Group, NIS 6.5 million to Jerusalem Capital Studios (JCS), and NIS 4 million to Anani Communications.

The Second Broadcasting Authority opposes easing the commitments it imposed on Israel 10. At a stormy meeting last night, several board members said they would resign if the proposed bill does not convince them that the public interest is preserved.

Israel 10 fired 20% of its staff yesterday, including news department staff, amounting to 30 people. Salaries were also cut 15-18%.

The Ministry of Communications will hold a hearing on Channel 10 on Sunday at 3 PM. The cabinet will probably discuss the topic in its weekly meeting Sunday morning.
