Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided not to renew the contract of current chairman Ori Orr, a Labor Party man.
Minister of Defense Shaul Mofaz today appointed Brig.-Gen. (res.) and former minister of public security Avigdor Kahalani as chairman of Israel Aircraft Industries. He will replace Ori Orr, who has been in the post since September 1999.
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon decided before the elections not to renew the Orr’s contract. Orr is a Labor Party man. Kahalani’s appointment was delayed because senior appointments may not be made in the three months preceding an election. Orr’s contract ended in August 2002.
