A Geocartography survey this week reported that 54% of wage earners are willing to accept a 10% salary cut to avoid lay-offs in their company. The Manpower personnel agency commissioned the survey.
The telephone survey, conducted in the last week of April, included 511 men and women, constituting a representative nationwide sample of the adult Jewish population in Israel. The maximum sample error is 4.4%, with a 95% level of significance.
The wage earners in the survey were asked, “If your company decides to cut your salary by 10% in order to prevent lay-offs, will you accept the cut in your salary?”
54% said they would accept the cut, 36% were opposed, and 10% did not respond.
The survey also indicated that more wage earners with average or higher incomes are willing to accept lower salaries, than those with below average salaries. 68.9% of average income, and 62.5% of above average income, wage earners would agree to a cut, while only 44.6% of wage earners with below average incomes would agree.
