Soltam Systems wins $5m foreign artillery tender

Soltam Systems will supply its ATMOS 2000 155-mm Artillery Truck Mounted Gun Howitzer, after beating other foreign companies in the tender.

Soltam Systems has won an artillery tender for a foreign army. Soltam declined to identify the country, but sources inform “Globes” that it is an African country. The tender is worth an initial $5 million.

Soltam Systems will supply its ATMOS 2000 155-mm Artillery Truck Mounted Gun Howitzer, after beating other foreign companies in the tender. The artillery has advanced including on-board computation, Inertial Navigation and Aiming Systems.

Soltam Systems general manager Moshe Charash estimates potential ATMOS sales through 2010 at over $200 million. “The company is negotiating with several customers interested in the system,” he said. “They want to buy this year. This is the most advanced artillery of its kind in the world.”

Soltam Systems develops and manufactures advanced artillery, mortars, ammunition, and peripheral equipment. The company offers its customers artillery solutions, including self-propelled and towed artillery, capable of using all standard munitions.
