Mercury in $15 million licensing deal with Texas-based Motive

Motive's technology provides just-in-time modeling of business services. Mercury has also bought data integration technology from Allerez Corp. of California.

Business optimization company Mercury Interactive Corporation (Nasdaq: MERQ) Mercury has licensed so-called “ecosystem blueprinting technology” from Texas-based Motive, a privately owned provider of service management software. Mercury said that under the deal, it would integrate Motive’s system into Mercury next-generation application management software. The licensing deal was valued at $15 million.

Motive's ecosystem blueprinting technology provides just-in-time modeling of business services and the specific configuration data required to manage them effectively. Mercury said the integration of Motive technology was a strategic step in reducing the need for resource-intensive management of legacy systems and help-desk operations.

In a separate announcement, Mercury said today that it had bought technology assets from Allerez Corp., a privately held company based in San Mateo, California, for $1.254 million in cash. Mercury said the acquired technology enabled organizations to integrate and aggregate data from multiple, disparate data sources and produce real-time reports and analytics. Mercury added that the acquisition would extend the customized reporting capabilities in its application delivery and management software.

Mercury shares closed on Nasdaq on Friday at $39.87.
