Meitar-Liquornik-Geva, Leshem-Brandwein law firms merging

The merger, the largest ever between Israeli law firms, will create a single firm with 60 lawyers.

The Meitar, Liquornik, Geva & Co and Leshem Brandwein & Co. law firms today announced that they were merging, in the largest-ever merger between Israeli law firms. The merger will create a firm with 60 lawyers, and a strong presence in high tech and communications, industry, the capital market, and commercial litigation. The merged firm’s clients will include Amdocs (NYSE: DOX), the Aurec group, Makhteshim-Agan MA Industries (TASE:MAIN), and Medinol.

The senior partners in the two firms will lead the new firm: Adv. Maya Liquornik and Adv. Dan Geva from Meitar, Liquornik, Geva, and Adv. Yisrael Leshem and Adv. Dror Brandwein from Leshem Brandwein.

Aurec group shareholder Adv. Zvi Meitar founded Meitar, Liquornik, Geva in the 1960s. Meitar left the firm and now lives in London. The firm numbers 37 lawyers. Judge emeritus Ishai Levitt, who deals in arbitration and mediation, joined the firm 18 months ago. The firm has represented public companies, including Amdocs, VocalTec Communications (Nasdaq: VOCL), and Ampal - American Israel Corporation (Nasdaq: AMPL; TASE:AIP); start-ups, such as Babylon and Atrica; Israeli venture capital funds, such as Carmel Ventures, the Challenge Fund Etgar, and Giza Venture Capital; foreign venture capital funds; multinational firms, including Applied Materials (Nasdaq: AMAT) and Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU); and international investment banks, including Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch.

Founded 10 years ago by Leshem and Brandwein, Leshem Brandwein has 23 lawyers, and leads in the capital market, industry, and commercial litigation. Both Leshem and Brandwein worked in the firm of Adv. Lipa Meir. The firms clients include MA Industries, Gazit-Globe (TASE:GLOB), Harel Insurance (TASE:HARL1; Harel Insurance (TASE:HARL1), Clal Insurance (TASE:CLIS), Medinol, Monitin Publishers (owners of ''Globes''), Darban Investments, Industrial Building (TASE:IBLD), Fishman Family Properties, “Yediot Ahronot”, Isras Investment (TASE:ISRS), Gan Shmuel Foods, Tefron (NYSE: TFR), Soltam Systems, Nissan Medical Industries (TASE:NISA), Arkal Quality Industries, and Mega Sport.
