Betzalel Kenigsztein leaving Tevel Telecom for UPC Netherlands

UPC Netherlands has 2.5 million television subscribers, 300,000 Internet subscribers, and 360,000 telephone subscribers.

Sources inform “Globes” that Tevel Telecom general manager Betzalel Kenigsztein is leaving his position to become a senior executive at UPC Netherlands.

Kenigsztein confirmed the report, and added that he had received “an offer I can’t refuse.” He said he would become VP engineering at UP Netherlands, a company with 2.5 million television subscribers, 300,000 Internet subscribers, and 360,000 telephone subscribers.

Kenigsztein explained, “After 15 years at Tevel Telecom, I’m sorry to be leaving at a time when the company is beginning to make rapid progress. We only recently began cable telephony testing.”

Kenigsztein was appointed only a year ago CEO of Tevel Telecom, the telecommunications concern of the cable TV companies, after the highly publicized resignation of Nissim Alfia.

Golden Channels cable TV company shareholder Eliezer Fishman is the controlling shareholder in “Globes”.
