New York-based CosmoCom announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Surf & Call Solutions, a privately held company that grew out of Israeli voice over Internet company VocalTec Communications (Nasdaq: VOCL). The value of the deal was not disclosed.

Like CosmoCom, Surf & Call's primary market focus is on providing hosted services platforms for telephone companies and other network service providers.

CosmoCom was founded in 1996 by former Comverse executives Ari Sonesh and Stephen Dellutri. Sonesh currently serves as CosmoCom president and CEO while Dellutri is chief technology officer. Another Comverse executive, Stephen Kowarsky, joined CosmoCom at a later date and currently serves as executive vice president.

CosmoCom has received an investment from Clal, whose stake in the company is managed by Infinity. CosmoCom has 115 employees.

CosmoCom CEO and chairman Ari Sonesh said, "Surf & Call widens the functionality of our offering to service providers, especially in the areas of network-based callback, integration with legacy call centers, and shared browsing, all of which add significant value to our customers."

Surf & Call’s customers include Deutsche Telekom, Bezeq and TurkCell. CosmoCom has business relationships with several customers, including BT, France Telecom, KT (formerly Korea Telecom) and NTT.
