Histadrut won't negotiate unless pension rights restored

The Histadrut also demands that no addition damage to the pension funds occur during the negotiations with the Ministry of Finance.

The Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) today notified the National Labor Court of its threshold terms for negotiations with the Ministry of Finance. The key demands are freezing of all accumulated budgetary damage to pensioners already carried out by the Ministry of Finance and avoiding any additional damage during the negotiations.

Last Friday, the National Labor Court ordered the Histadrut to file its terms and reservations to the court. The Ministry of Finance will file its response on Tuesday.

In addition to its threshold terms, the Histadrut has other fundamental reservations regarding pensions. The Histadrut objects to having pensioners absorb losses in the event that the Ministry of Finance's management of the funds fails.
