The “Yediot Ahronot” Hebrew daily reports that the Histadrut’s (General Federation of Labor in Israel) struggles over the past two years have apparently made it more attractive. 1,500 new members from 163 workplaces have joined the Histadrut in recent months, and several hundred more workers have joined on their own individual initiative, rather than as part of a group.
More and more companies and enterprises have recently signed collective work agreements with their employees, and allowed them to form workers’ committees. These workers have become Histadrut members.
