Israel's carpet market is NIS 500 million a year.
The way Israelis cover their floors has been changing in recent years, says Carmel Carpets CEO Ofer Eitani. He says the multifold increase in hardwood floors has led to a corresponding rise in demand for colored woven carpets, while demand for wall-to-wall carpets in homes has been halved.
Eitani estimates Israel's carpet market at NIS 500 million a year. Demand for carpets rises in winter, with the greatest number of purchases made during the Hannukah holiday. He added that Carmel Carpets controled a quarter of Israel's home carpet market.
