ART Advanced Recognition Technologies, Inc., maker of recognition software for voice and handwriting, today announced that it had closed over $6 million in a financing round led by Bessemer Venture Partners and including current investors. The company said that funds will be used to finance worldwide sales and marketing initiatives.
ART was established in 1990 to pioneer speech and handwriting recognition software for mass-market mobile devices. Its technology is embedded in mass-market mobile devices, such as cellular phones, smart phones, mobile communicators, PDAs, handhelds, and automotive systems. ART's solutions are primarily targeted to the manufacturers of cellular handsets, cellular chips and other wireless device vendors, although some stand-alone products are available to the public.
ART's speech recognition technology operates in all major Western European, American and Far East languages. ART's natural handwriting recognition software supports all major Western European languages, and even allows for concurrent multilingual use. ART recently introduced Chinese handwriting recognition solution for mass-market smart phones.
Customers include Acer, Casio, Franklin, GVC, Hitachi, Hutel, Konka, LGE, Inventec, Maxon, Mitsubishi, NeoPoint, Panasonic, Philips, Quanta, Samsung, Siemens Automotive and others.
ART has strategic and technological partnerships with industry leaders including Agere Systems, Analog Devices, DSP Group, e-SIM, Microsoft, Motorola, OTM Technologies, Parthus, Pegasus, Persay, Symbian, Texas Instruments and TTPCom.
