Dimona silica factory cornerstone laid today

The cost of the investment is $50-58 million, of which $48.5 million has been approved for a 20% investment grant.

Construction of the new Dimona silica factory got underway today, with a cornerstone laying ceremony at the site. In attendance were Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Ehud Olmert, and Dimona Mayor Meir Cohen.

As previously reported, ownership is divided between Russian industrial concern Altek (60%), and project initiator Ephraim Feinblum (40%).

The cost of the investment is $50-58 million, of which $48.5 million has been approved for a 20% investment grant. The state grant will be $12 million.

Feinblum told “Globes” last week that construction of the factory would take two years. 1,200 workers will be employed in construction, and the factory will have 200 employees. All production will for the export market. This is the first factory to be established in Dimona in 15 years.
