Water purifier co Tana Industries sets up UK subsidiary

Tana Water UK was established at a cost of NIS 6 million.

Israeli water purifier company Tana Industries (colloquially known as Tami 4) has established a British, subsidiary, Tana Water UK, at a cost of NIS 6 million. Tana Industries CEO Dan Taragan said, "Tana Water UK will be based on a 500-sq.m. site in Barnacle, outside of London, and will have 30 employees."

Tana Industries stated that it planned to achieve an annual sales turnover of £15 a million within three years. Tana Water UK's major customers include British Airways (LSE: BAY; NYSE: BAB), Citibank (NYSE:C), and Wimbledon Stadium.

For a decade until two years ago, Tana Industries operated in the UK through a partnership with a local company. Two years ago, Tana Industries sold its UK business for £7 million, but is now reentering the UK market through a fully-owned subsidiary.

Tana Industries has installed its water purification system with 17,000 customers in the UK. The company believes that Tana Water UK will become one of the two leading purveyors of water purification systems in the UK.

Tana Industries exports to Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Netherlands, France, and Singapore. Its exports totaled NIS 25 million in 2003. The company has installed its water purification system in 165,000 homes in Israel. Kibbutz Halamed Heh owns 75% of Tana Industries.
