Erez crossing open for first time since Thursday's attack

8,620 Palestinian workers and 420 businessmen entered Israel this morning.

The Erez checkpoint between the Gaza Strip and Israel was reopened today for the first time since Thursday's attack that killed an IDF reservist.

8,620 Palestinian workers and 420 businessmen entered Israel this morning, and 3,200 workers entered the Erez industrial zone, the IDF Coordinator for Activities in the Territories Office reported today.

The number of Palestinians entering Israel today was less than the peak number entering in recent weeks, because there is a lag of several days after the checkpoint is reopened before all the workers at the Erez industrial zone and in Israel return to work.
