Arie Scope is expected to be appointed as chairman of Microsoft Israel.

Sources inform “Globes” that Microsoft Israel managing director Arie Scope has informed Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) that he plans to retire next year, after 15 years at his post. Afterwards, he is expected to be appointed as chairman of Microsoft Israel, where he will be responsible for investment in start-ups and community projects, among other things,

There are three leading candidates to replace Scope: Microsoft Israel EMEA manager Doron Liebstein, the former CEO of MSN Israel; Microsoft Israel deputy general manager and enterprise partner group manager Danny Yamin; and another division head.

Scope founded Microsoft Israel, Microsoft's 13th overseas branch, in 1989. The development center, which has operated as an independent unit since 2003, is one of Microsoft's four international development centers (the others are in China, India, and the UK). Microsoft Israel has $120 million in sales a year. It has 430 employees, including 150 in sales and customer support.

Microsoft Israel stated in response, "If and when there are changes in the management of Microsoft Israel, we will make an official statement."
