Private electricity sales regulations issued

The regulations will govern the use of the Israel Electric Corporation’s network. Home consumers can also produce electricity.

Minister of National Infrastructures Joseph Paritzky has published new regulations for the electricity industry. For the first time, private manufacturers will be allowed to sell electricity to end consumers.

Paritzky said that he published the regulations before they go into effect in order to achieve maximal transparency and sensitivity to the general public.

The goal of the regulations is to increase electrical power capacity and reserves through private power stations, while creating conditions for fair competition, and encouraging the production of electricity using efficient and environmentally friendly technologies.

The regulations set the terms for sales by private electricity producers to end consumers through the use of the Israel Electric Corporation’s network.
