Soltam leading in $500m Indian Army artillery tender

If Soltam wins the tender, the Indian Army will buy 400-500 ATHOS 2025 autonomous towed 155mm howitzers.

Yoknea'm-based Soltam Defense Systems has reached the final stage in an Indian Army tender for its future artillery. If Soltam wins the tender, the Indian Army will buy 400-500 ATHOS 2025 autonomous towed 155mm howitzers, worth a record $500 million.

Soltam will send a prototype of the system for tests in India's Thar Desert and mountainous regions. Soltam Systems president Moshe Charash said the tests would be held in extreme climate conditions.

The ATHOS 2025 has already passed tests in 50-degree Celsius desert heat and sub-zero mountain cold.

South Africa's Denel and Swedish Weapons Systems (SWS) have also reached the final stage.
