Motorola Israel to supply fixed mobile car phones to European operator

The devices will be used in five countries where the operator has a network.

Motorola Israel has won a large tender to supply tens of thousands of fixed mobile car phones to a major European wireless operator, apparently Vodafone (NYSE; LSE; FSE:VOD).

The devices will be used in five countries where the operator has a network. Motorola Israel says other operators are about to buy its fixed mobile car phones.

Motorola Israel VP and director of operations and next to core solutions division Aharon Mirsky predicted sales of hundreds of thousands of devices. Until now, only Pele-Phone marketed fixed mobile car phones for its CDMA network to a few tens of thousands of subscribers. The devices will soon be distributed on Cellcom and Partner Communications' (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE:PTNR; LSE:PCCD) GSM networks.

Motorola Israel makes the fixed mobile car phones at its plant in Arad.
