Pele-Phone to market Motorola GSM/CDMA handset

The handset will enable Pele-Phone to provide subscribers with global coverage, comparable to Partner and Cellcom.

Pele-Phone today announced that it would begin marketing Motorola (NYSE:MOT) wireless handsets in November. The handsets can connect CDMA networks (800/1900 frequencies) and GSM networks (900/1800 frequencies).

This breakthrough will enable Pele-Phone to provide its subscribers with global coverage, without the need for replacing their handsets when traveling to most of the world's countries. Verizon Wireless, the largest network in the US, will simultaneously launch the handset.

One of Pele-Phone's main shortcomings compared with Partner Communications (Nasdaq:PTNR; TASE:PTNR; LSE:PCCD) and Cellcom is that it lacks full worldwide roaming services. Motorola's new A840 handset changes this situation, eliminating one of Pele-Phone's greatest drawbacks, compared with its competitors.
