Defense Ministry orders 150 Wolf vehicles from Rafael, Hatehof for $13.5m

The new vehicle includes a Rafael -made weapons station.

The Ministry of Defense this week ordered 150 Wolf Multi-Purpose Armored Vehicles (also called Ze’ev) from Rafael Armament Development Authority Ltd. and Hatehof Netzer Sereni. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will use the Wolf, which is based on a Ford truck, in the West Bank.

The new vehicle includes a Rafael -made weapons station with armor that protects it from light arms, machines guns, explosive charges, and anti-tank missiles. RAFAEL and Hatehof Netzer Sereni will share thousands of work hours in production of the new vehicle, mostly in the Tziporit Industrial Park, near Nazareth. 200 workers will be employed in producing the vehicle.

Another order, of $1 million, was given to the Ramim Engineering Ltd. plant in Kiryat Shmona. The order is for mobile command and control units to be used at the National Training Center (MATBAT) at the IDF Field Unit Training Center in Tze'elim. US company Cubic Corp. and Israeli companies Bynet and Rafael are carrying out the $45 million project.
