Verint picked to improve London Underground security

Metronet Rail, which maintains certain parts of the London Underground's infrastructure, selected Verint, a Comverse Technology subsidiary.

Verint Systems (Nasdaq:VRNT), a subsidiary of Comverse Technology (Nasdaq:CMVT), today announced that Metronet Rail has selected Verint's networked video solution to enhance security of the London Underground.

Metronet Rail has responsibility for maintaining certain parts of the London Underground's infrastructure, including trains, stations, tunnels and bridges, under a 30 year contract with the UK government.

The London Underground is one of the largest underground transportation systems in the world handling 3 million passengers a day. As part of an ongoing strategy to enhance security and improve customer service, Metronet Rail will be deploying Verint's networked video solution across selected rail lines of the London Underground. The solution will enable operations and rail security personnel to enhance security by monitoring passenger platforms and certain remote portions of the track. Verint was selected after completing an extensive evaluation, including pilots at several rail lines.

Verint president and CEO Dan Bodner said, "We have significant experience working with transportation authorities and are committed to delivering innovative networked video security solutions for the transportation industry."
