The charges involved Bezeq’s purchase of digital switchboards in the mid-1990s.
Telrad and Telecommunications will pay an NIS 8 million fine to the state under a plea bargain in the digital switchboard cartel affair. The companies negotiated the compromise with Antitrust Authority director general Dror Strum. The charges involved Bezeq’s (TASE: BZEQ) purchase of digital switchboards in the mid-1990s. The affair was first reported in “Globes”.
Bezeq bought the switchboards from Telrad and Tadiran Telecommunications, both of which were owned by Koor Industries (NYSE: KOR; TASE: KOR) at the time. The Antitrust Authority investigated suspicions that Bezeq had promised the two suppliers that it would not add a third manufacturer to the tender. Allegations that Bezeq had undertaken to divide its sales to Telrad and Tadiran Telecommunications under a previous agreement between the parties were also investigated.
