Law firms Gilead Sher & Co. and Aaronsohn-Aboulafia-Amoday merge

Gilead Sher: The breadth of expertise of the new merged firm will make it a far more attractive proposition for both Israeli and international companies.

Law firms Gilead Sher & Co. and Aaaronsohn-Aboulafia-Amoday & Co. recently announced that they would merge. The merged firm, to be called Aaronsohn, Sher, Aboulafia, Amoday & Co., will number around 50 lawyers, putting it in the Dun and Bradstreet top-ten largest firms in Israel. It will operate both from Tel Aviv, where Aaaronsohn-Aboulafia-Amoday & Co.currently have their offices, and from Gilead Sher & Co.’s offices in Jerusalem.

The firm will have 6 partners: Shmuel (Muli) Aaronsohn, Gilead Sher, David Aboulafia, Ilan Amoday, Amir Kadari and Ofir Tal.

Aaaronsohn-Aboulafia-Amoday & Co., which currently numbers around 35 lawyers, specializes in insurance and torts. Gilead Sher & Co., which currently numbers 16 lawyers, is a commercial law practice, with expertise in public and administrative law, representing both Israeli and international corporations, and government and municipal authorities. It specializes in infrastructure projects (Project Finance) such as the Jerusalem Light Rail project, where the firm advises the government and the Jerusalem municipality.

“Legal counsels in today’s competitive, global commercial markets often have to provide clients with a lot more than legal advice or representation on specific topics," Gilead Sher explained. "They rather need to provide a comprehensive service which covers a range of areas, and to give hands-on advice to sophisticated clients throughout the life of a project," he continued, "The breadth and variety of specialties and expertise of the new merged firm will place it in an ideal position to provide such a synergic service, making it a far more attractive proposition for both Israeli and international companies.”

The merger is expected to take effect in March 2005.
