Mekorot National Water Company last week notified local authorities in the Krayot region north of Haifa (comprising Kiryat Ata, Kiryat Bialik, Kiryat Haim and Kiryat Motzkin) about changes in the National Water Carrier water purification regime.
Mekorot's district water quality engineer wrote to the local authorities, "Since the end of November, the National Water Carrier water purification regime has switched from free chlorine to Chloramine. This action was taken in coordination, with and approval of, the Ministry of Health. There is no health significance to this change, except that some consumers might sense a change in the taste of the water."
