A Ministry of Tourism expert on tourism crises will attend a World Tourism Organization conference in Thailand.
The Ministry of Tourism will participate in the international taskforce for rehabilitation tourism is the Southeast Asian countries hit by the tsunami disaster on December 26. David Beirman, director Israel Tourism Office Australia, New Zealand and the Southwest Pacific will attend a World Tourism Organization (WTO) emergency conference in Phuket, Thailand at the end of the month.
Beirman, an expert on dealing with tourism crises, wrote a book on the subject. He will tell the representatives of the participating countries how to deal with the tourism crisis that resulted from the tsunami, and will offer the Ministry of Tourism's experience in dealing with the tourism crisis in Israel.
The WTO Executive Council will hold a two-day emergency conference beginning on January 31. International tourism sources said the decision to hold the conference in Thailand was to show solidarity with the victims of the disaster. Representatives of 28 countries will attend the conference.
