Microsoft's Sybari acquisition seen helping Commtouch

Commtouch rose 16% in early trading on Nasdaq. Sybari Software includes Commtouch's anti-spam software in its solutions.

Israel's anti-spam developer Commtouch Software Ltd. (Nasdaq: CTCH is likely to be a major beneficiary of Microsoft's (Nasdaq:MSFT) acquisition of Sybari Software, Wall Street sources believe.

According to reports Commtouch filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a year ago, a number of software companies, including Sybari, include Commtouch's anti-spam software in their own solutions through OEM agreements. Microsoft's acquisition of Sybari is therefore likely to provide a leg-up for Commtouch.

Commtouch has risen 16% in early trading on Nasdaq on triple its usual trading volume.
